Davoud Rashidi awards dedicated to Iran artists

Winners of the first annual Davoud Rashidi Awards announced in Tehran.

The winners of the first annual Davoud Rashidi Awards have been announced during an event in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The ceremony was launched in memory of the late Iranian actor Davoud Rashidi by his family in Tehran on Saturday.

Four awards were presented during the event, including one to actor and director Hassan Majuni in recognition of his contribution to theater.

64-year-old director Alireza Davudnejad was another honoree and two other awards were dedicated to two journalists, Amid Naeini and Mohsen Mirzai.

In its design, the award is composed of a rectangular cube, the upper part of which is stair-shaped and decorated with a crystal plate bearing an inscription reading, “The Play Goes on.”

Rashidi studied Theater Directing and Acting in Geneva, Switzerland, and obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Political Rights from the University of Geneva.

His debut movie was 'Escaping the Trap' (1971). Besides acting, he worked in the field of film production.

Rashidi starred as "Noman bin al-Bashir" in the TV series 'The Rise of Mokhtar' (2009) and played the role of Priest "Monsieur Alphonse" in 'The Pahlavi Hat' (2012).

'Hezar Dastan' (1987), 'Primrose Flower' (1991), 'A Place of Love' (1996-2000), 'The Weary-Hearted' (2009) and 'The Chat' (2012) are some of the TV series in which he played roles.

He also took part in several movies, such as ' Kamal-ol-Molk' (1383), 'Lean on the Wind' (2000), 'Extreme Cold' (2009) and 'Ekbatan' (2011).

The prominent actor passed away on August 26, 2016 in Tehran.
